Thirty years? Are you kidding me? Seems like only a couple of years ago we were planning the twenty-five year reunion! Well,...gray hairs be dammed, let's throw another party! With thoughts of the 25 year success (and envy of other classes) still fresh in our minds, committee members figured why mess with success...don't change a thing! Thursday night Trail Bar warm up? Absolutely! Can we get over one hundred classmates to show up again on a ninety degree night in an attempt to drain the Trail bar coolers? Well,...over one hundred showed and you can bet the Trail was calling their beer suppliers the next day! Many classmates who couldn't make Friday's party showed to make the Trail Bar event a huge success once again! Faced with rising costs and a tightening budget, the Dearborn Doubletree made us an offer we couldn't refuse; an open bar for three hours, specials on rooms for the weekend, a warm & cozy atmosphere and warm chocolate chip cookies for Committee members! A perfect night of reminiscing, laughter, libations & dancing was topped off by late night (or was that early morning) pizza in the lobby where the celebration continued till the wee hours of the morning! A final count of one hundred fifty classmates and guests made for a party that will be remembered for years to come! Our festivities continued on Sat. Aug 4th with a golf outing at the lovely Dearborn Hills golf course. Four person "scramble" teams were cobbled together on site to form five separate teams. Joel Yinger finally shook off his hang over to record his first (and probably last) "hole in one" ! As is customary for hole in ones, Joel was a sport and bought drinks for all participants while classmates waited over an hour for Dan Ford's group to finish up (what were they doing out there) ? Many classmates and their families continued their weekend of reminiscing at the Dearborn Homecoming celebration at Ford Field which is topped off with fireworks on Sat & Sun evening. What an awesome weekend! Can't wait till the 35 year! |
